Show your interests to make strategic connections
Employers want to see you as a person, they want to like you, and see how you will fit as part of the team. People connect with others through values and interests.
Before hiring you, people want to like you, and see you as part of their team. Showing your passion and interests will help employers and interviewers:
Show your passion through collaborating
Working in your community, collaborating on a project, creating or building something, or growing a garden are just a few ways to show you are actively using your skills while working with others.
Your passion and interests motivate you to keep working on something whether you feel like it or not. Whether in your paid work, volunteer, or for your own pleasure, you need to find time for something you love to do. When you are working on something you are passionate about:
“While it’s always a good idea to showcase your skills to a potential employer, don’t forget to make a point of expressing your enthusiasm. After all, skills can be taught, passion can’t.” Why Passion is the Most Important Credential When Looking For a Job. Turesol Staffing Solutions
Be cautious about saying passion, it doesn’t work for everyone. But don’t hesitate to show it when making those connections with people who share your passion and interests.
Now is the time to finish your Job Search Strategies Planner and schedule time for your strategic job search or your plan how to be actively building your skills.
